Garlic chives have a mild onion flavour wth the distinctive taste of garlic. The leaves are flat, not hollow and circular like regular chives. Chopped up garlic chives are popular in Asian dishes and great added to vegetable soups, stews, salads and meat marinades. They are a flavourful alternative to regular chives.


GARLIC CHIVES HINTS

Add chopped garlic chives to sour cream as a topping for baked potatoes.
Add chopped garlic chives to sauces for chicken.
Add chopped garlic chives to salad dressings.
Mix finely chopped garlic chives, basil and oregano with grated parmesan cheese for a pizza topping or to sprinkle on pasta dishes.
Add chopped garlic chives when sauteeing shrimps or scallops.
Infuse oil with garlic chives by adding chopped leaves to heated oil and steep. Strain the oil and store in a sealed bottle in the fridge.
Add chopped garlic chives, dill, salt and pepper to cottage cheese for a refreshing summer side dish.
Try adding finely chopped garlic chives to the cooking water for mashed potatoes.
